1. Data we collect

Calculator inputs (local): Inputs you enter into calculators typically remain in your browser memory while the page is open. We do not receive this data unless an explicit network call is made (e.g., fetching live rates) or you share a URL that contains your inputs.

Share links: When you click “Share / Save,” some tools encode your inputs in the URL (see Share links). If you send that link to someone or revisit it, the page reads these values from the URL.

Technical logs: Our web server may record standard logs (IP address, user-agent, referrer, pages visited, timestamps) for security and performance.

Optional contact: If you contact us, we’ll receive the information you provide (e.g., email address, message content).

2. How we use data

• Operate and improve the site and calculators.
• Respond to support and product inquiries.
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse.
• Understand aggregate trends (if privacy-preserving analytics are enabled).

3. Cookies & local storage

Local storage: Some pages store simple preferences (e.g., UI theme, last-used inputs) locally in your browser. This data does not leave your device unless you share it.

Cookies: We currently aim to run without non-essential cookies. If we later add analytics or ads that set cookies, we will update this policy and show a banner to obtain consent where required.

4. Share links & URL parameters

Certain tools support a shareable link that encodes your inputs using URL parameters, for example:

• ?S= — a base64-encoded JSON “state” of the page inputs.
• ?L= — a base64-encoded list of loads [name, watts, hours/day].

These parameters are read by your browser to restore the calculator state. Anyone with the link can view the values contained in the URL. Avoid sharing sensitive information and consider clearing the address bar after use (most pages include “Update address bar”).

5. Analytics & advertising

Analytics: If enabled, we prefer privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics (aggregated metrics). We do not associate analytics events with individual calculator inputs.

Advertising: Pages include ad slots that may show our own house ads or third-party ads. If a third-party network is used, they may place cookies or use device identifiers to personalize/measure ads. Where required, we will present consent controls and honor choices (including “Do Not Sell or Share” under CPRA).

6. Disclosure to third parties

• Service providers: We may share minimal data with trusted vendors who help operate the site (e.g., hosting, analytics, ad serving), under confidentiality and data-processing terms.
• Legal: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
• Business transfers: In a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, data may transfer subject to continued protection consistent with this policy.

7. Security & retention

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data. We retain server logs and any messages you send us only as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

• GDPR (EEA/UK): Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent.
• CCPA/CPRA (California): Know, delete, correct, and opt-out of sale/share of personal information. We do not sell personal information in the conventional sense. If ad partners are used, you can opt out via our consent banner or browser signals (“Do Not Track”/“Global Privacy Control”) where supported.

9. Children’s privacy

SolarVsGrid is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. International users

By using the site from outside our hosting region, you understand that your connection will route through our servers and service providers who may be located in other countries with different data protection laws.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy periodically. We will revise the “Effective date” above and, if changes are material, we may provide additional notice (e.g., banner or email if available).
